Vacancy for Traffic planner

Kieron M Owen Transport Ltd is a haulage company located in Mid Wales, running fleet of modern, up to date vehicles, with cranes and trailers. We collect round timber from rural forestry locations and deliver to local sawmills in Wales and the borders. We also deliver treated timber products (poles) to utility companies throughout Wales and southern England.


To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes, and scheduling delivery times to ensure that customers receive a first-class service in a cost-effective way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully plan and prioritise a large quantity of deliveries to customers. Working with customers/drivers to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Wales and border area is key to the role.
  • Ensure that planned routes are logical and cost effective.
  • Forward plan collections to coincide with deliveries in the most productive manner.
  • Forward plan vehicle maintenance and driver training/absence.
  • Be able to amend routes at short notice and prioritise workload if required.
  • Driver communication and monitoring.
  • Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads.
  • Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
  • Have the skills to use excel spread sheets and other Microsoft Office programmes. Maintain vehicle tracking systems.

  • Team player with a flexible Can-Do attitude, with good sense of humour.

 Experience not particularly necessary, applications welcome from outside haulage industry, as training will be given.
