The Henslow and Evolution School is an OFSTED “outstanding” Independent School for mostly looked after students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Henslow Secondary School is based in a rural location just near Middletown, to the west of Shrewsbury. Our Primary School is based in the village of Bicton, Shrewsbury.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified teacher to join the team on a full time and permanent basis. In our small, nurturing environment you will be able to genuinely make a difference; having the time to provide the attachment-based nurture and support that our students need to be successful.
Science Teacher – Henslow School
Salary up to £36,900 per year dependent on experience
In our bespoke Science lab, you will have the freedom to deliver Science across key stage three and four in a way that genuinely meets student needs and interests. You should be confident to deliver Physics, Chemistry, and Biology across the secondary age range, although students usually specialise in Biology at GCSE. We are in the privileged position to teach small classes (max 4 students) with excellent support staff assistance, as all our students have one to one support if required.
For both roles you must have experience working with vulnerable and challenging young people, as well as the ability to think strategically whilst employing good organisational and time management skills. A sense of humour and a willingness to become absorbed into the breadth of school life is important.
