Job Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Global leadership of New Product Integration (NPI), ensuring new products are successfully and efficiently integrated from design into production.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. DFM, NPI delivery and production transition planning
a. Planning how the product will be built in NPI and production
b. Quantifying NPI and production costs
c. Ensure NPI delivery is planned effectively to understand tasks, demand, and resource availability + associated costs
i. Plan and track DFM cycle requirements/tasks
ii. Plan and track NPI proving cycles requirement/tasks iii.Plan and track Production transition requirements/tasks
b. Work with the CFT and PMO to integrate these activities with cross-functional teams

2. NPI champion for Design For Manufacture (DFM) - (quality, methods)
i. Lead a dedicated team to support the design process of NPD & VA/VE ii.Develop and improve engineering process to:
1. Reduce NPI design iterations required due to DFM design miss
2. Ensure DFM meets operational objectives and measures
3. Ensure data quality

3. NPI Delivery (effectiveness and availability)
a. Develop and manage Global NPI delivery options i.PCBa external partners
ii. Inhouse NPI site capabilities
b. Provide fast track service for
i. NPD design proving ii.VA/VE design proving

4. NPI build readiness and transition to full production ((part availability, design readiness, build team readiness, operational readiness)
a. Ensure production fixtures (e.g., Jigs, programming) and consumables (e.g., pallets/ stencils) are ready to the agreed NPI and production switch schedules
b. Ensure NPI build teams and equipment are available and to agreed NPI schedules
c. Develop and manage build teams with site transition representatives
d. Transition NPI to global sites as handover from NPD or VA/VE
e. Ensure NPI parts are purchased, managed and available to meet NPI plans
f. Perform readiness and quality gatekeeper responsibility between R&D and global operation teams

• Leader of all NPI delivery as dedicated and focused function (faster get to market cycles)
• Leader of DFM as a dedicated function to identify engineered issues earlier (quality)
• Leads transition to production delivery options to reduce the impact of lost production time (cost saving)
• Plans NPI effectively to ensure demand and capacity aligned (optimised outputs)

AUTHORITY & DECISION MAKING


This role will report to the VP and may be allocated a DOA to progress purchases within agreed guidelines. They will direct team activities and lead the HR and development of team members.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
• 7+ years NPI Engineering experience
• Team leadership
• Certified planning skills (PMI, APM, PRINCE 2)
• Process Design
• Senior stakeholder and supplier management

Desirable:
• PCBa manufacturing process experience
• Industrial Automation or Variable Speed Drive (VSD) product design knowledge
