Chef

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Chef to join our busy and friendly school catering team as a Chef.  Reporting to the Chef Manager, the main responsibilities are to prepare delicious, high quality food for pupils, staff and visitors during term time and lead the catering service for Nursery during school holidays when the Nursery remains open.

Being highly motivated and flexible will be key and you will need to have excellent customer service skills with a positive, cheerful, ‘can-do’ attitude.  

Shift patterns

  • 35 hours per week during school term time.
  • 25 hours per week during school holidays.
  • 30 day paid holiday plus all bank holidays

Standard working patterns will be Monday-Friday.  Rotas will include very occasional evening/weekend working, in line with school and external events. Advance notice of events and working patterns will be given in line with the school calendar and external event bookings to help provide a good work-life balance.

Salary will be paid at 35 hours per week term time & 25 hours per week out of term time, averaging 28 hours paid per week.

Previous catering experience is essential as either a School Chef or from a contract/ commercial catering environment.  Possession of NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualifications would be desirable.
