Job Description

CENTRAL AREA (Covering Harlescott, Pontesbury, Worthen etc.)

£9.81 basic hourly rate with enhancements up to £14.90 for qualifying shifts along with a generous mileage remuneration based on HMRC mileage allowances and paid holiday entitlement.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of Shropshire Council’s reablement team supporting individuals to return home, regain independence, work to achieve agreed goals and improve their well-being following a period of hospitalisation in an acute or community setting.

START works closely with the newly launched Integrated Health and Social Care Rapid Response Team who support individuals in their own homes during an acute episode of ill health preventing admission to hospital.

START operates 7 days a week, weekends and Bank Holidays and our operating hours are 7am – 10pm. On-call support is provided during unsociable hours and for monitoring lone working.

Our casual contracts allow applicants the flexibility to select from available shifts to fit in with work-life balance.

START is looking for new team members who are caring and compassionate however, experience of providing care either formally or informally is desirable but not essential as START is a values-based team.

We offer an extensive, person-centred induction programme, on-going training, and opportunities for personal development.

An electronic homecare monitoring system is used therefore IT knowledge is desirable but not essential.

Applicants must hold a current driving licence and have their own transport as START operates a countywide service.

We supply uniforms, personal protective equipment along with other items to ensure your safety and well-being.

As part of your role, you may be required to carry out manual handling duties involving the handling and moving of individuals in accordance with the Manual Handling Operating Regulations.  To comply with Directorate Standards applicants must be a minimum of age 18 to undertake personal care work.

For further information about this role, please contact Ann Ashley, START Organiser at  contacting 01743 254875.
