Assistant Project Manager


As our service continues to grow strongly, our small, friendly team is now seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Assistant Project Manager to support more householders in need in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.  Initially you will work under the guidance of our existing team of experienced Project Managers supporting householders directly on the phone providing advice and support around tariff switching, fuel debt, energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. In time you will also assume project responsibility by organising and delivering events, report completion, attending meetings, bid writing, managing budgets and targets.  You will also liaise with partner organisations such as Local Authorities, Housing Associations, other charities, installers and energy companies to deliver projects and understand the importance of the growing house retrofit approach.


Person specification:


  • Demonstrate an understanding of the different elements within a project, and a strong commitment to taking ownership of a project once you have more experience.   
  • Be a good communicator able to listen and empathise with a range of householders, and to respond with accurate and appropriate advice and support around energy efficiency, on the phone and in person. 
  • Be a good team player able to work as part of a small team, but also unsupervised. 
  • Have excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Be able to show a good level of understanding of energy efficiency in the home, and a clear willingness to learn more and be flexible.
  • Be competent in the use of online phone and IT systems, cloud-based databases. 
  • Be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to, and understanding of our climate and ecological crisis, and some understanding of what living in a cold home is like. 
  • To show a clear alignment with our values and vision. 
  • To hold a degree or equivalent level qualification/ experience.
  • Be based in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin or nearby.

Training:  On the job training and support will be provided including undertaking a Level 3 NVQ in energy awareness. You will also be expected to undergo a basic DBS check. 


Pay:  £19,545-£22,697 pro-rata per annum; optional employer pension of up to 5%; work travel costs paid; team-related annual performance bonus. 


Location:  Shrewsbury or home working.


Hours of work: 30 - 37.5 hours per week.


Leave: 24 paid days pro-rata per annum + bank holidays.


Duration: Permanent
